Since its establishment in 1970, the Lunchtime Recitals on Wednesdays has been providing a performance platform for both local and international musicians. The Choir Chaplain at that time, the Revd Patrick Nicholas, had noticed that a substantial number of tourists and people working in Central would come into the Cathedral during lunchtime to relax or pray. He then enlisted the help of Mr David Cheung Sr and Miss Mary Moore in recruiting local performers and promotion, thus launching the first lunchtime recital.
