The Revd Amos Poon

The Reverend Amos Poon joined the clergy team of St John’s Cathedral in February 2020. Before coming to St. John’s, he served as a curate at St. Paul’s Church, Glenealy for six years.

Amos was trained at Divinity School of Chung Chi College, Chinese University for three years full time, and got his Master of Divinity, afterwards he was also trained in Ming Hua Theological College for his postulant training. He was ordained deacon in 2014 and afterwards ordained priest on 17 October 2015 (St Luke’s Day).

Before seminary, Amos worked for 3 years with local NGOs, including Hong Kong Christian Service and World Wide Fund for Nature, focused mainly on Community building and Fundraising. He grows up in a Christian family, where his father, grandfather and great grandfather are Christians of the Anglican Church.

On a lighter note, Fr Amos is interested in Origami and distant running. You might be able to meet him at Bowen Road or along the Central coast with his sneakers and running attire.
