The Revd Canon Dwight dela Torre

Dwight Q. dela Torre is a priest of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente/Philippine Independent Church (IFI/PIC). He was born in May 1956 in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. He attended St. Andrew’s Theological Seminary of Quezon City graduating with B.Th and M.Div degrees.

He was ordained priest on Trinity Sunday 1978 and worked shortly at the Cathedral of Jesus The Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro City before he was given his own parish assignment in Alubijid, Misamis, Oriental.

He earned a scholarship under St. Andrew’s Graduate University Program and read Psychology at Trinity College of Quezon City, now known as Trinity University of Asia.

He served the parish of Bacoor, Cavite and was appointed Headmaster of Bacoor Parish School. He also lectured at Aglipay Central Theological Seminary in Mabini, Urdaneta, Pangasinan.

After Bacoor, he became Assistant Director for Continuing Theological Education of the National Priests’ Organization of the IFI. From there he became the Executive Assistant to the Obispo Maximo/Supreme Bishop of the IFI until December 1993.

Fr Dwight joined the clergy team of St John’s Cathedral in February 1994 as Chaplain to the Filipino Christians in Hong Kong and at the Mission for Migrant Workers (MFMW).

Fr Dwight is married to Estela dela Cruz whom he met in Hong Kong. Both Estela & Dwight love travelling and watching movies.
